Hi Losers,
No, we are not publishing April's weigh in for all to see. However, I do believe that steamed mouse counts as 2 points on the weight watchers scale. Kudo's to April and Chris's dog, Penny, she's a real dog after all. Keep up those good hunting skills, when they move to Florida, maybe she can hunt gator for them. hoorah!!!!!
Okay, here's the April results, Now, before I get started, two months in a row, and most of us are in a rut, its nice out there, lets get those buns moving. come on guys, and to reward the best mover, they are getting a nice prize, like I said.
Also, food diaries. not the favorite thing to do, and I had a hard time with it too.
This is what I would like to hear from everyone who even tried to keep even a mental list of what they ate. What do you think are your 5 worst or best eating habits. To start out, I will list mine,
On a daily basis, I do not drink enough water. I only drank maybe 2 or 3 glasses of water each day. I am addicted to special K protein bars, I need to substitute them for some fruit or something. i do eat balanced meals, most are prepared in the home and we eat lots of veggies with them and they are good veggies, steamed stuff, that sort of thing, but I do have a weakness for something sweet almost every day. I have to work at that.
Last but not least, I need to drink maybe 1 more glass of milk or have some good dairy product every day. So, I have confessed. Lets see what everyone else has to say. Like I said, it was not a punishment for everyone, just to let you all know that maybe you are not exactly doing what you need to do.
here's our April results. Good job everyone.
Susan, George, Jerri, Jill, Janet, very slight drops, but drops just the same.
Kristy, slightly up, but not much
Jason- 0.5%
Todd- 1.4%
April- 1.54%
and our winner this month weigh in and the winner of the special prize is
Lori- 1.76%
Hoorah to Lori, she will get a special prize in the mail. maybe she will let everyone know what it is. Good job everyone.
This month, our total weight loss was 13,1 pounds, bringing our total weight loss as a group to
143.7 pounds. That is pretty awesome.
I am so proud of everyone. So, lets hear some feed back about the food diaries, or even the work about it. i hope everyone has a nice Easter coming up.
Between burning brush and indoor painting, we have been busy busy, and I am still trying to find that almighty job here. I was told I did not meet the requirements of a cashier, go figure, I only handled hundreds of thousands of dollars daily at the superior court and reconciled daily and monthly with the auditors office every single month. But, what can I say. Guess money in California is different than money in S. Carolina. They must still be working with that confederate garbage here.
Good job losers,
miss you and hope to see less of you real soon.

Mid-March weigh in results
Okay losers,
Good news and bad news.
There was not alot of weight loss for this period, however, there was loss, and no gain which was remarkable when you consider most of you had terrible weather to contend with.
Now that its getting better, lets see if our stats can improve.
Here's the scoop so far,
and most of us had so little weight loss it was not even registering, but it was a loss anyway,
Susan
George
Jerri
Jill
April
Jason
this group did not have any significant weight loss, BUT THERE WAS NO WEIGHT GAIN!!!!!!
so that says alot,
Lori- almost 1%
Todd- 1%
and our winner for this mid month period is Kristy- with a whopping 2% percent.
Hoorah for Kristy. our winner this time around.
Now, the total of weight loss for the group was 10.9 pounds giving our group total weight loss of 130.6 pounds. Is that fantastic. I do think so.
So, kudo's to Kristy,
Now, lets get a little notebook, borrow some paper from the kids stash, do whatever, keep a food diary for one week. Yes, that includes how much water you are drinking, everything that you consume for one week. Come on guys, like I said it is no punishment, it will be another tool for us and its only for a week.
Also, as a reminder, we are coming up to the end of March, maybe some of you need to send in another amount to Jerri to keep your account current. Keep that in mind if that pertains to you.
So, keep up the good work, you got to move it, move it. and there will be a nice prize for the April 1st best weight loss winner.
Good luck everyone.
go losers,

New Challenge!!!!!!!
Okay Losers,
I have let everyone slide abit, however, its time to get back on the band wagon, and especially since it is becoming nicer weather, there is no excuse for not getting out and hoofing it abit.
So, here is the challenge. I want everyone to document what they have eaten for 1 week. Be honest about it, write down what you have eaten for breakfast, snacks, anything that goes into that big ole pie hole. I want you to start doing it on Sunday, March 22, and then we will finish it on Sat. the 28th. Lets see if everyone can do that.
come on, all you have to do, is keep a little notebook nearby, write down what you have eaten, drunk, anything, and yes that includes if you have made a stop at a local coffee shop for a little treat. This is not a punishment, I think it will be interesting to see what happens after a week.
Please be honest about doing this, I will have a great prize for the end of the month weigh in on April 1st. So, get to walking and keep those food diaries for just one week.
Good luck losers,
and get the rest of the weights in for everyone. We only have a few people left to send in their weights.
Look forward to hearing from all of you losers,
later losers,
Susan

Quiz Time!!!!!
Okay Losers,
I hope everyone has been staying on track. Don't let the ugly weather get you down.
Since Feb. is such an historical month, after all some very famous people have been born in this month , I have a nice history quiz for everyone, but alas, I have also included some science and math questions.
I have some brain matter for all of you so get your head together and get to getting on this quiz/
The first person to correctly answer all the questions will of course get a great prize and this time it is not a lotto scratcher ticket, its a real prize. You have until Monday to get back to me on this quiz.
Here we go:
1. In which African country did the Mau Mau uprising take place?
2. Which of these events occurred on 15 Feb. 1942?
a. Evacuation of Dunkirk b. Attack on pearl Harbor
c. Fall of Singapore c, Hitler invaded Russia
3. Which king of France was the husband of Marie Antoinette?
a. Louis XVI b. Louis XV
c. Louis XIV c. Louis XII
Okay, now here are some science questions for you. Can't give you all history
1. What is Cotpaxi?
2. With the study of what is the name Gregor Mendel associated?
3. What is the lowest level of the Earth's atmosphere?
a. troposhere b. mesosphere
c. stratosphere d. thermosphere
Here's a riddle for you
1. You must keep this thing, for its loss will affect your brothers. Once yours is lost, it will soon be lost by others. What is it?
and another riddle
2. I never was, am always to be, no-one ever saw me, nor ever will. yet I am the confidence of all to live and breathe on this terrestrial ball. What am I?
okay and the final question:
Eighteen people stood in three queues in the post office. One third were in the first queue: and of those remaining, two thirds were in the second queue: and the rest were in the third queue. All were waiting to buy first class stamps, second class stamps and each also wanted an additional item. Every queue consisted of equal numbers of men and women, with each man standing directly behind a woman.
Everyone wanted exactly the same number of first class stamps as their position in the queue. Any man in any queue who wanted fewer than five first class stamps also wanted three second class stamps. Any woman who wanted more than four first class stamps also wanted two second class stams. Everyone else wanted just one second class stamp.
Of the women, all of those who wanted a total of fewer than six stamsp also wanted to buy a TV stamp: and any who wanted a total of more than eight stamps also wanted to buy a birthday card.
Of the men, all those who wanted a total of fewer than six stamps also wanted to buy a birthday card and any who wanted a total of more than eight stamps also wanted to buy a TV stamp.
Of everyone else remaining, one man in each queue wanted to buy a packet of envelopes. All of those still remaining ( if any) wanted to buy postcards.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WANTED POSTCARDS?
okay, losers, So, the person who gets the most right will win the prize and i do hope that we have some good feedback on this quiz.
Come on losers, lets see if our brain matter is still intact. Don't want to lose that.
Good luck losers,
Susan

Everyone bend over, you are getting kicked in the behind!!!!!
Alrighty Losers,
This was not a good weigh in. We did not do well as a group. As I am writing this, I just finished having to have an MRI and now wear a stupid holter monitor again. I am to blame for this predicament, no one else. But, I am asking for your help. I don't want to just get myself healthy, I want to see my family healthy. so, lets get back on the band wagon and get to work.
Here's the dismal results, I know we can all do better. and my hats off to those who did lose, and I posted a percentage loss for some of us, even though it was a stretch on that loss.
here it is:
Susan- 1%
George- 1%
Jerri 1%
Jill 0%
April 1%
Lori 1%
Kristy 1%
but we had two who gained: here's my finger wagging at you two, but please please get back to work
Jason- +2%
Todd +2.4%
and our big winner so far, without Chris being in yet, is>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Janet- with 2.1% loss. Janet emailed me that she is on her way to Germany for a visit, but when she returns, she will have a prize awaiting her, unless of course Chris beats her out. Hoo Rah for Janet and all of us.
We lost a total of 12.2 pounds, but our group also gained a total of 13.5 pounds, not going in the right direction.
So far our group has lost a total of 89.8 pounds which i think is remarkable. That is just fantastic. So, lets all get back to work, I know we can all do it. The big prize is seeing us all healthy when we get back together.
Good Luck everyone, and great going for everyone too.
Get to work, and I love you all.
Go Losers!!!!!!!

Happy Valentines Day Losers
Hi Losers,
Happy Valentine's day to everyone. Here's to being a good loser this year. So, if you are into getting or giving gifts then go forth and enjoy them. Personally I will take a gift any day of the year and if you want to hear that you are my sweetie then, hey i will ablige that too just to get the gift. But, seriously, I hope all of you are sticking to our game and what we are all trying to accomplish.
If you have read Lori's blog, she has challenged each of us to walk 10,000 steps each day. That is a good challenge and hopefully all of you can accomplish that. Good luck to that.
But, getting back to valentines day. One year when I was stationed in Korea, I decided to send mom a beautiful box of chocolates. It was a gorgeous box, beautiful red satin ribbons with satiny roses and sequins adorning the box. The candy in it looked pretty good too. Well, I just couldn't send that alone, I also included in the shipping box a can of kimchi, which if some of you don't know, is a Korean dish made out of fermented cabbage. It is made similar to pickles, however, it is stored in big pottery urns and buried in the ground to ferment for any amount of time. Some of the kimchi's include other vegetables such as onions, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, etc. It has a definite distinct odor to it and at every meal that you eat in any Korean restaurant you will be served a variety of small dishes to accompany your meal that have different kimchi's in them. Trust me, your breath will be a lethal weapon after you eat kimchi.
Well, I sent the beautiful box of candy and the can of kimchi to mom. It was a few weeks after valentines day, I hadn't heard from her as to whether or not she received the candy, so I wrote to her and asked her about it. She told me that she had indeed received a package from me, but when the postman delivered it to her, he told her that he had to make a special trip for her package alone and he had put it in the back of his old farm truck to deliver it. Apparently the can of kimchi had burst and there was an odor that came from the box that was pretty disgusting and he did not want to keep it in the post office any more time than he had to. Mom said when he delivered it to her, the package was so smelly that she promptly carried it over to an old metal burn barrel we had in the back yard and burned it. Alas, she never got to see the box of candy in it. When I heard about what had happened, I laughed so hard, I am sure that mom never got another valentine quite like that one.
Well, i can imagine that some of you have received some doozies as far as valentines day is concerned. So, lets hear some stories, lets share some funnies with everyone. It doesn't have to be all mush and goo. Hey, you never know when one of you might receive a can of kimchi from me one day, you all are such sweeties. and hey, I am sure that there are few if any calories in kimchi.
So, lets go losers, and hear the stories.
oh, and don't forget the bi monthly weigh in on the 15th. Easy on the chocolate between now and then.
later losers,
Susan

I am proud of everyone, lets keep up the good work, its sweetheart month, don't let all the goodies all over the markets sway you, keep up the good recipes, exercising and all the good thoughts.
Good Job Jason!!!! What a guy.
Lets all send Jason a big hug and yes he will get his prize in the mail as well as a late one due to Todd for the poetry contest.
Oh, and I have a really good doozie quiz for you guys in a week. I figured since this month, so many highly intelligent people have been born, that I surely must include a good contest this month. So be prepared, in about a week, and we will have our bi monthly weigh in on Sunday the 15th. So, forget the chocolate, at least a little bit.
Go Losers,
Susan

Sorry about the delay
I am so sorry about the delay. I had to go back and see the heart doctor. Was having some funky feelings going on and too much leg pain. Yes, I did see the heart specialist, he was not happy with how the results were with the tests that had been done at my regular doctor, so he has put me on another holter monitor, and next week I will have a stress test and a new Echo. So, Jer and Glenn, I did follow up with the doctor, and I am getting seen okay. I had not seen him in over a year, so, shame on me.
I have also been extremely busy trying to find any and all avenues for jobs. I went to a couple of job fairs just recently and got some more leads. I think in one day I sent or faxed in 18 applications to different places. I just wish that one would at least call me back. Please wish me luck there.
Anyway, I will get those Jan/ Feb results posted tonight. I want all of you to know that we are all doing really really well. So, hang in there , all the super bowl recipe ideas were really cool. I hope everyone enjoyed the game, it was pretty good.
This is heart month, everyone please think good thoughts for every one in that regard, and keep up the good exercise, and good eating habits. Its coming along really well.
Talk soon and I will post the new results super soon. like in just abit.

Super Bowl/ SUPER BOWL!!!!
Okay losers,
I know I have not been on for awhile. Been quite busy trying to get someone around this lovely part of the country to take notice and offer me a job. Maybe this year will be lucky for me in that regard.
Now, lets get down to the losing end of things. Today is weigh in day for the month. Remember Todd's challenge, hope everyone did well. Please get your weights in to me as soon as possible and yes I will post the winner either tomorrow if I have everyone or hopefully by Monday.
Weighted down poems.: Well, we had a tie, not enough of you voted. You have to get out and vote people. This is the season for change, get out and vote. Anyway, the winners were Todd and myself. Can't give myself a prize, but Todd will be getting one. Hurray for Todd.
I have a super bowl challenge for everyone. I know that many of you are not abit interested in the football games, however, it is hard not to get into the spirit of the games if for nothing but to watch the comical ads during the game and you do hear alot about foods to serve during a super bowl party.
Well, here is my challenge. Take a typical food item that might be served during a super bowl party and alter it to make it healthier. Lets see what we can do to make a few changes there and we might just share some healthier ideas with each other.
I will start it off with my recipe for
Chicken bites:
You will need the following ingredients.
Skinless chicken breast
Rosemary
Honey
garlic powder
orange juice
Cube the chicken, sprinkle it with rosemary and garlic powder, and put on a skewer. Grill it until brown and done, maybe 8-10 minutes. In the meantime, take a couple of tablespoons of honey and orange juice and heat them up to pouring consistency. Pour this over the grilled chicken cubes. Serve the chicken with other finger food, such as baked sweet potato wedges, grilled veggies, that sort of thing.
They are super good, very good for you and much better than barbequed chicken wings.
So, weights in everyone. Good luck with that. All you midwesterners, please try to stay warm and safe.
Have a great Super Bowl day. Lets share some recipes.
Have a Great weekend Losers.
Hurray for Todd/ Poet Weighty meritus!!!!!

Weight, lets hear a poem!!!!
Okay losers,
I have a challenge for each of you. Here's my poem. You have to write a poem about your weight loss. It must include something that you are trying to lose, struggling with, cravings, anything that we might all get abit of amusement from and do try to keep it somewhat clean.
When all the poems are published, at least on this blog, we will have a vote to see which one is the winner. Of course, the winner will get a prize. You have 2 days to get your poems in, and we need at least 4 or 5 poems to have a decent vote. Oh, I have voting rules also, which you will hear later.
So, I will get you started with my poem,
Ode To My Chin
I know I have a dimple in the middle of my chin.
It was there once, and will be again.
It was a feature that piqued some interest
From the natives in a faraway land.
I kid you not, they thought I was akin
To the actor Kirk Douglas, you see
Because of his prominent dimple in his chin
They said, "You must be his relative."
Over the years I have laughed at this story
And told it many times over
However, it now seems so sorry to hear
As my dimple is quite covered over.
There's barely a dimple there anymore
It's covered by too many chins.
This I can tell you, and it may take awhile
But I intend to regain my one chin smile.
Was too much eating that caused my chin sorrow.
I am taking action today, not waiting till morrow.
Like many others, overeating is one of my sins.
But I will conquer this battle and bid farewell to my chins.
Alrightly now losers, lets hear from the other poets in this here family of ours. I know for a fact we have at least one other one, and I am sure that there are others. So, come on losers. Lets get it done.
2 days to get your poems in. Oh, and we will take last minute stragglers in this game. Come one come all, however, pay up from the first of the year. See your local banker Jer for those details.
In the meantime, get to writing.
Lets go losers.

Snow day!!!!
Its a snow day here, can you believe it. Yes, the schools are closed, its snowing, and we are all home watching the inaugauration.
Over the weekend we went to see the movie Gran Torino. It was not a gang movie as some might expect according to the previews, but was a great movie and was very well made. Supposedly,it is the last movie that Clint Eastwood is going to act in. If it is ,he is certainly going out in style.
There have been lots of challenges that I faced this weekend. Not just the movie and popcorn and stuff like that, but even going to the store and seeing Valentines candy on the shelves, trying to get home before the hunger pains really strike me, that sort of thing.
Lets see what kinds of ideas each of us have to help fight those kinds of cravings. Sometimes I am not even all that hungry, its just that things are there, they look good and I am thinking, hum?, maybe something for later.
Lets share some hunger pain, gotta have it craving stories. Maybe something someone else has dealt with will help another one of us.

here it is,
Chris------scant 1%
but our grand total of weight loss is 48.1 pounds for the group. That is just fantastic.
we are certainly on our weigh out.
Here's my version of Egg McMolina, and its so much healthier for you.
You will need a small maybe 6 inch skillet.
Ingredients:
Turkey Ham- 1 slice
Egg ( please note: 1 egg will make two sandwiches.)
Light -Whole Wheat English Muffins
Any light cheese
Light marjarine
In small skillet, lightly brown a slice of turkey ham, set aside
Slice English muffin and toast
Lightly beat egg in small bowl with fork, and fry in the small skillet. Turn over once when bottom side is done and cut in half.
Spread a tiny amount of light margarine on toasted muffin, then layer slice of turkey ham, the egg, and a slice of light cheese. Top with remaining side of english muffin, and voila:
our much lighter version of Egg McMolina. Its very good and a great way to start the day. You can mix and match your likes and dislikes with this any way you want. Enjoy and good luck everyone.

Sobering News, Awesome Results
Okay Losers,
Before I submit the latest results that I have, I want to let all of you know that collectively as a group, we started out weighing a grand total of 2,619 pounds. Yes, losers, I kid you not. Thats almost a half a ton.
However, since first of the year and in only 15 days, we have as a group, with the exception of Chris. who has not submitted his results yet, but we as a group have lost in those 15 days,
a grand total of 45.5 POUNDS. You got it,
a total of 45.5 pounds. Is that awesome or what.
To add to the percentages,
Jason- 2 %
Janet- broke even
and like I said I don't have Chris's results in yet, however with his extemely busy schedule, we might make an exception for him ever so slightly.
Anyway, if I tally things up correctly, that does make Lori our winner this go around.
Good Job Lori, shake those tail feathers missy and keep all those awesome recipes and pictures coming.
I am so proud of all of us, I have some real challenges in the months to come, so as you are losing body weight, we don't want to lose brain cells. Some of us might have some damaged ones anyway, and i am not saying any names.
Just a note: When you go to the store, movies, etc, don't park right up front, park as far back in the parking lot as you can. The walk will do you good.
GOOD JOB LOSERS,
LETS KEEP THIS GOING.

Okay Losers,
Today is the 15th. You will have to weigh in today. So, get on those scales. Lets see how everyone has been doing.
Don't forget the big prize and it takes alot of little steps to get there.
Jer, i did a nice soup kind of like that minestrone recipe you gave me years ago. It was full of zuchinni, carrots, celery, spinach, and I used some italian turkey sausage in it. Lori you would have been proud of me, using the turkey sausage.
It was very good, very healthly, and I used alot of garlic so no one came near me the whole day.
I hope everyone is not freezing too bad. I know its cold, but get up and move abit.
One of my new years resolutions was to go through boxes and boxes of old photos. We have managed to purge alot of pictures, send some to people, and put the others in some albums. I am so proud of us. That was part of cleaning out the closet so I could come out of the closet. yeah!!!!!!!! I realized in cleaning the closet that I barely have any clothes. I wear the same ones day after day, so that is motivating me to move even more. I want to lose more weight, so I can buy more clothes, but in smaller sizes.
So, everyone get your weights in today. Lets see who is the biggest percentage loser for the midmonth.
Good luck to everyone.

Okay Losers.
I have an easy game for the first month. But, you have to read my blog to play the game. And I will always post my games at around mid day so all you west coasters can get up and going abit first.
The first person to correctly answer these questions or as close to them as I think they should be, and yes, I get to determine the winner, so what,
anyway, the first person to answer the questions correctly will win a prize. So, get to reading and get back to me within a short time. lets say, within the next 12 hours.
1. How many grapes can you eat for the same number of calories as a single donut hole?
2. How many apples can you eat for the same amount of calories as one cup of chocolate ice cream?
3. How many cups of carrots equals 1 snickers bar?
4. How long would it take a 150 lb. person to hike to burn the calories in 1 brownie?
Okay, answer quickly, only 1 time per person. I will check the blog as soon as possible.

Just to let all of you know,
there are 11 members of our " Losin Group"
April, Chris, Lori, Jason, George, Myself, Jerri, Jill, Todd, Kristy, and Janet. If I have left anyone out please let me know.
I found a picture of myself as I was cleaning; surprise, surprise, that does happen occasionally. Anyway, it was taken in the 80's, and if I say so well, it wasn't a half bad picture. I was running 5 miles a day back then. Don't know if I can get back to that kind of running routine, but I would like to walk about 5 miles a day.
Lori, i saw your turkey meal, I cannot quite bring myself to eat turkey like that, however, I did break down and buy some real nice light raspberry walnut vinegarette salad dressing. it was mighty tasty.
I will be having the first contest coming up in a week or so. I will need everyone to send in their weights to me, need a few more of you to send in your initial weights, make sure you get your money into Jer, and then the next weigh in will be on the 15th of the month.
good luck everyone.

Okay folks,
This is the official " Hoosier Loser" blog. I call it the Hoosier loser blog as most of us have ties to originally being a Hoosier, so as I have fonder memories of that state than the one I am currently residing in, I will claim it as my own again.
Losers, as well, I could use a few pounds.
Let me begin, I am the kind of gal that when people see me, well they see alot of me/
I intend to change that this year.
I have asked my family members to join me in our own version of the ....loser game.
We are calling it the "Hoosier Losers". The ones participating have signed up, paid $1.00 a week to join and each month we will celebrate the biggest percentage loser with a prize of some sort. At the end of the year, the person who has lost the biggest percentage will get the grand prize. So, now, the games begin.
I have asked everyone to help each other and help us with lots of good ideas to keep us motivated and going for the year. For one thing, its very difficult for me to go a day without having food being the primary thought for the day. Its been almost 3 years since we have moved to So. Carolina and each day I search out jobs in the area. Don't know why, but somehow, this has been the most difficult time in my life to find work and of course being at home or just trying to not think about that has not helped my morale.
But, I do have hope.
So, lets get going with our game. I think I finally got this blog thing up and running. I will post a picture very soon indeed. I do so want to win this game.
Keep those ideas coming all my hoosier losers pals.
