Super Bowl/ SUPER BOWL!!!!

Okay losers,

I know I have not been on for awhile. Been quite busy trying to get someone around this lovely part of the country to take notice and offer me a job. Maybe this year will be lucky for me in that regard.

Now, lets get down to the losing end of things. Today is weigh in day for the month. Remember Todd's challenge, hope everyone did well. Please get your weights in to me as soon as possible and yes I will post the winner either tomorrow if I have everyone or hopefully by Monday.

Weighted down poems.: Well, we had a tie, not enough of you voted. You have to get out and vote people. This is the season for change, get out and vote. Anyway, the winners were Todd and myself. Can't give myself a prize, but Todd will be getting one. Hurray for Todd.

I have a super bowl challenge for everyone. I know that many of you are not abit interested in the football games, however, it is hard not to get into the spirit of the games if for nothing but to watch the comical ads during the game and you do hear alot about foods to serve during a super bowl party.

Well, here is my challenge. Take a typical food item that might be served during a super bowl party and alter it to make it healthier. Lets see what we can do to make a few changes there and we might just share some healthier ideas with each other.

I will start it off with my recipe for
Chicken bites:

You will need the following ingredients.

Skinless chicken breast
Rosemary
Honey
garlic powder
orange juice

Cube the chicken, sprinkle it with rosemary and garlic powder, and put on a skewer. Grill it until brown and done, maybe 8-10 minutes. In the meantime, take a couple of tablespoons of honey and orange juice and heat them up to pouring consistency. Pour this over the grilled chicken cubes. Serve the chicken with other finger food, such as baked sweet potato wedges, grilled veggies, that sort of thing.

They are super good, very good for you and much better than barbequed chicken wings.

So, weights in everyone. Good luck with that. All you midwesterners, please try to stay warm and safe.
Have a great Super Bowl day. Lets share some recipes.

Have a Great weekend Losers.

Hurray for Todd/ Poet Weighty meritus!!!!!

Weight, lets hear a poem!!!!

Okay losers,

I have a challenge for each of you. Here's my poem. You have to write a poem about your weight loss. It must include something that you are trying to lose, struggling with, cravings, anything that we might all get abit of amusement from and do try to keep it somewhat clean.

When all the poems are published, at least on this blog, we will have a vote to see which one is the winner. Of course, the winner will get a prize. You have 2 days to get your poems in, and we need at least 4 or 5 poems to have a decent vote. Oh, I have voting rules also, which you will hear later.

So, I will get you started with my poem,

Ode To My Chin

I know I have a dimple in the middle of my chin.
It was there once, and will be again.
It was a feature that piqued some interest
From the natives in a faraway land.

I kid you not, they thought I was akin
To the actor Kirk Douglas, you see
Because of his prominent dimple in his chin
They said, "You must be his relative."

Over the years I have laughed at this story
And told it many times over
However, it now seems so sorry to hear
As my dimple is quite covered over.

There's barely a dimple there anymore
It's covered by too many chins.
This I can tell you, and it may take awhile
But I intend to regain my one chin smile.

Was too much eating that caused my chin sorrow.
I am taking action today, not waiting till morrow.
Like many others, overeating is one of my sins.
But I will conquer this battle and bid farewell to my chins.

Alrightly now losers, lets hear from the other poets in this here family of ours. I know for a fact we have at least one other one, and I am sure that there are others. So, come on losers. Lets get it done.
2 days to get your poems in. Oh, and we will take last minute stragglers in this game. Come one come all, however, pay up from the first of the year. See your local banker Jer for those details.

In the meantime, get to writing.

Lets go losers.

Snow day!!!!

Its a snow day here, can you believe it. Yes, the schools are closed, its snowing, and we are all home watching the inaugauration.
Over the weekend we went to see the movie Gran Torino. It was not a gang movie as some might expect according to the previews, but was a great movie and was very well made. Supposedly,it is the last movie that Clint Eastwood is going to act in. If it is ,he is certainly going out in style.
There have been lots of challenges that I faced this weekend. Not just the movie and popcorn and stuff like that, but even going to the store and seeing Valentines candy on the shelves, trying to get home before the hunger pains really strike me, that sort of thing.

Lets see what kinds of ideas each of us have to help fight those kinds of cravings. Sometimes I am not even all that hungry, its just that things are there, they look good and I am thinking, hum?, maybe something for later.

Lets share some hunger pain, gotta have it craving stories. Maybe something someone else has dealt with will help another one of us.

Absolutely Official Weigh-In Results for the 15th

Okay Losers,

here it is,
Chris------scant 1%

but our grand total of weight loss is 48.1 pounds for the group. That is just fantastic.

we are certainly on our weigh out.

Here's my version of Egg McMolina, and its so much healthier for you.

You will need a small maybe 6 inch skillet.

Ingredients:
Turkey Ham- 1 slice
Egg ( please note: 1 egg will make two sandwiches.)
Light -Whole Wheat English Muffins
Any light cheese
Light marjarine

In small skillet, lightly brown a slice of turkey ham, set aside
Slice English muffin and toast
Lightly beat egg in small bowl with fork, and fry in the small skillet. Turn over once when bottom side is done and cut in half.

Spread a tiny amount of light margarine on toasted muffin, then layer slice of turkey ham, the egg, and a slice of light cheese. Top with remaining side of english muffin, and voila:

our much lighter version of Egg McMolina. Its very good and a great way to start the day. You can mix and match your likes and dislikes with this any way you want. Enjoy and good luck everyone.

Lets see how our challenges work out.
I am so proud of less of us.

Great Going Losers

Sobering News, Awesome Results

Okay Losers,

Before I submit the latest results that I have, I want to let all of you know that collectively as a group, we started out weighing a grand total of 2,619 pounds. Yes, losers, I kid you not. Thats almost a half a ton.

However, since first of the year and in only 15 days, we have as a group, with the exception of Chris. who has not submitted his results yet, but we as a group have lost in those 15 days,
a grand total of 45.5 POUNDS. You got it,

a total of 45.5 pounds. Is that awesome or what.

To add to the percentages,
Jason- 2 %
Janet- broke even
and like I said I don't have Chris's results in yet, however with his extemely busy schedule, we might make an exception for him ever so slightly.

Anyway, if I tally things up correctly, that does make Lori our winner this go around.
Good Job Lori, shake those tail feathers missy and keep all those awesome recipes and pictures coming.

I am so proud of all of us, I have some real challenges in the months to come, so as you are losing body weight, we don't want to lose brain cells. Some of us might have some damaged ones anyway, and i am not saying any names.

Just a note: When you go to the store, movies, etc, don't park right up front, park as far back in the parking lot as you can. The walk will do you good.

GOOD JOB LOSERS,
LETS KEEP THIS GOING.

Okay Losers,

Today is the 15th. You will have to weigh in today. So, get on those scales. Lets see how everyone has been doing.
Don't forget the big prize and it takes alot of little steps to get there.

Jer, i did a nice soup kind of like that minestrone recipe you gave me years ago. It was full of zuchinni, carrots, celery, spinach, and I used some italian turkey sausage in it. Lori you would have been proud of me, using the turkey sausage.

It was very good, very healthly, and I used alot of garlic so no one came near me the whole day.

I hope everyone is not freezing too bad. I know its cold, but get up and move abit.

One of my new years resolutions was to go through boxes and boxes of old photos. We have managed to purge alot of pictures, send some to people, and put the others in some albums. I am so proud of us. That was part of cleaning out the closet so I could come out of the closet. yeah!!!!!!!! I realized in cleaning the closet that I barely have any clothes. I wear the same ones day after day, so that is motivating me to move even more. I want to lose more weight, so I can buy more clothes, but in smaller sizes.

So, everyone get your weights in today. Lets see who is the biggest percentage loser for the midmonth.

Good luck to everyone.

Losers,
susan

Okay Losers.

I have an easy game for the first month. But, you have to read my blog to play the game. And I will always post my games at around mid day so all you west coasters can get up and going abit first.

The first person to correctly answer these questions or as close to them as I think they should be, and yes, I get to determine the winner, so what,
anyway, the first person to answer the questions correctly will win a prize. So, get to reading and get back to me within a short time. lets say, within the next 12 hours.

1. How many grapes can you eat for the same number of calories as a single donut hole?

2. How many apples can you eat for the same amount of calories as one cup of chocolate ice cream?

3. How many cups of carrots equals 1 snickers bar?

4. How long would it take a 150 lb. person to hike to burn the calories in 1 brownie?

Okay, answer quickly, only 1 time per person. I will check the blog as soon as possible.

Just to let all of you know,
there are 11 members of our " Losin Group"
April, Chris, Lori, Jason, George, Myself, Jerri, Jill, Todd, Kristy, and Janet. If I have left anyone out please let me know.

I found a picture of myself as I was cleaning; surprise, surprise, that does happen occasionally. Anyway, it was taken in the 80's, and if I say so well, it wasn't a half bad picture. I was running 5 miles a day back then. Don't know if I can get back to that kind of running routine, but I would like to walk about 5 miles a day.

Lori, i saw your turkey meal, I cannot quite bring myself to eat turkey like that, however, I did break down and buy some real nice light raspberry walnut vinegarette salad dressing. it was mighty tasty.

I will be having the first contest coming up in a week or so. I will need everyone to send in their weights to me, need a few more of you to send in your initial weights, make sure you get your money into Jer, and then the next weigh in will be on the 15th of the month.
good luck everyone.

losin susan
Okay folks,

This is the official " Hoosier Loser" blog. I call it the Hoosier loser blog as most of us have ties to originally being a Hoosier, so as I have fonder memories of that state than the one I am currently residing in, I will claim it as my own again.
Losers, as well, I could use a few pounds.
Let me begin, I am the kind of gal that when people see me, well they see alot of me/
I intend to change that this year.

I have asked my family members to join me in our own version of the ....loser game.
We are calling it the "Hoosier Losers". The ones participating have signed up, paid $1.00 a week to join and each month we will celebrate the biggest percentage loser with a prize of some sort. At the end of the year, the person who has lost the biggest percentage will get the grand prize. So, now, the games begin.
I have asked everyone to help each other and help us with lots of good ideas to keep us motivated and going for the year. For one thing, its very difficult for me to go a day without having food being the primary thought for the day. Its been almost 3 years since we have moved to So. Carolina and each day I search out jobs in the area. Don't know why, but somehow, this has been the most difficult time in my life to find work and of course being at home or just trying to not think about that has not helped my morale.
But, I do have hope.
So, lets get going with our game. I think I finally got this blog thing up and running. I will post a picture very soon indeed. I do so want to win this game.

Keep those ideas coming all my hoosier losers pals.
